HISTORIC MAPS

1847 Expedition of JG Norwood

The Tomahawk Area Historical Society owns two important maps of northern Wisconsin from the pre-Tomahawk era.  One is a map based on the 1847 expedition of federal geologist Joseph Granville Norwood.  Due to space issues in the museum, this map is currently not on display.  However, web site visitors can still read about the expedition here.

1883 Map of Lincoln County

Recently on display in the museum for a limited time, was an 1883 map of Lincoln County, at a time when the county still extended to the Michigan border.  For more infornation about this map, see the page devoted to it.
